Richard Pavlidis - ORIGINS album launch

Paris Cat Jazz Club, 6 Goldie Pl, Melbourne

Saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Richard Pavlidis has spent the pandemic months at home creating the epic ‘Origins’, his second studio album. An intricate combination of synthesizers, orchestral instruments and traditional jazz quartet, ‘Origins’ appeals as an accessible mainstream jazz record while exploring much more modern sonic territory. Richard plays the tenor sax, the soprano sax and the EWI, an electronic wind instrument made famous by Michael Brecker that opens up an incredible new range of possibilities for a standard jazz quartet. Joining him on the album are leading Australian jazz musicians including Tamara Murphy, James McLean, Darryn Farrugia and Mike Pensini. Tonight, Richard recreates his creation live on stage with two special shows featuring the amazing Mina Yu (Piano), Owen Downie (Bass) and Ben Charnley (Drums).
